VEILSIDE JP
VISUAL REBRANDING
GRAPHIC DESIGN / MOTION DESIGN
/ AUDIO MIXING / IDENTITY

This rebranding project reimagines VeilSide for a new generation of JDM enthusiasts, aiming to reach a more younger audience, and develop a bolder, stronger, and performance-driven visual identity approach while preserving the legacy that made the brand iconic.
VeilSide is an iconic Japanese automotive tuning brand known for late-90s Japanese street-racing culture and their body kits, popularized by the film “The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drfit”.

Design Concept

Ultimately I want to refresh and rebrand VeilSide into a more modern approach by redesigning the VeilSide website at veilsidejpn.com, develop a cohesive visual identity that will consistently be applied throughout the rebranding project, and refresh digital presence on Facebook and Instagram.
Technology Used

Assets developed in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Figma. Supporting video assets made with Adobe After Effects.

Planning Stage, and Asset Creation
Starting from research, I came across VeilSide’s website which led me to the idea of rebranding. I thought the website feels a little “dated” and saw an opportunity to refresh the overall aesthetic of the brand.

My concept is pretty simple, and is heavily inspired by the JDM culture that began in Japan. Touge drift runs, and the raw energy of street racing with cars with loud exhausts and engines. As I want to target a younger audience, I stuck to a simple typeface for the logo with bright colors that capture the colors of the night using neon colors and dark colors.
Execution

Since I was mainly inspired from their current website, I started working on my own website design. Then followed by the extras - magazines, posters and shirts. I also made Instagram ads that matches the aesthetic I am going for.

Afterthought

While guidelines create consistency, a little intentional rule-breaking can open space for stronger visual impact and a more modern narrative. Pushing those boundaries, even subtly, made a noticeable difference in the final direction.

Overall, I enjoyed exploring what was possible within (and slightly outside) the branding system I created. Veilside’s legacy and current aesthetic offer so many opportunities for visual and branding refinement, and this project was a fun reminder that creativity often lives in the balance between structure and experimentation.
